Friday, Friday!!!

<div class="THE-GOOD-LIFE-BLOG-FIVE-ON-FRIDAY-button" style="width: 275px; margin: 0 auto;">< a href="http://www.the-good-life-blog.com/search/label/FIVE%20on%20Friday" rel="nofollow">< img src="http://i1351.photobucket.com/albums/p782/thegoodlifeblog/5onFridayLogo-Final-forblogsidemenu_edited-1_zps7fcf6068.jpg" alt="THE GOOD LIFE BLOG" width="275" height="275" />< /a>< /div>

I always enjoyed doing the Friday Fives and have a few minutes to post and will take advantage of that since it's been a long while!

1. Breaking Bad
Ok so my husband and I were a little bored and thought we'd check out this Breaking Bad show on Netflix that everyone was talking about.  ADDICTED!  We ended up watching it over anything else that was on.  It was sad haha but we loved it!  The final season comes out on Netflix next week.  We were very close to buying it on Itunes or amazon instant downloads but we couldn't get it to work on the Playstation.  My husband is more excited about it then me, he has kept the countdown going.

2. Something that ISN'T a Friday Fave is Double Ear Infections!
My poor not so baby, baby currently has a double ear infection!  She has been fighting a cough for over a week and I was hoping to fight it on our own.  I did a few breathing treatments at home and it started to get gunk out but then was having her cough so hard she was throwing up a few times.  I eventually called the doctor and got her in.  Turns out she has a double ear infection.  She thankfully has been her onery, wild, little self so that is nice but boy is her personality shining through, especially that Irish attitude she has inherited from her father :)---thats what I think anyways!  Her favorite words is NO!  She has a few times thrown a toy because she was mad haha.  She has no patience and needs whatever the issue is to be fixed right then!  The other day she was trying to get a book out but her suitcase was in the way.  She just started screaming to say the least, to have me move the suitcase.  Attitude!  It just cracks me up more then anything, which is good right?!

3. Hilarious Commercials
You can't watch this and not laugh! I came across a lesson on another blog I follow and this is a commercial they used as persuasive media.  I think its hilarious and I hope--no I know my kids will too!  I use videos often to practice a reading strategy and they love it.  It is different and keeps them engaged which is major!  I hope they enjoy this lesson I do and am thankful to have amazing teachers out there with blogs I can follow for ideas!!
Back to the commercial though, not sure I'll ever jump on the minivan wago but this video is definitely convincing!!

4. Short work weeks!
This week we didn't have school on Monday.  It was such a nice break to have a long weekend!  I was thankful to get some more bonding time with Daylynn, especially with her being sickly lately.  It is also nice because since she has been sick, she has been waking up in the night and only wanting to sleep in mama's arms.  While I love this snuggle time, mama needs her sleep and can't sleep in the chair anymore :)  It was worth it though!

5. FAMILY
My sister, niece, and brother-in-law came to Great Bend this past Sunday.  We have only been going back to Wamego/Manhattan once a month to try to save some money.  I really miss my family and friends so it hasn't been easy!  My family have only came to town a few times, mostly because we have NO room at our house for them all to stay so it was really nice for them to come spend the day with us!  We went to my gym and went swimming and then got ice cream!  It was a perfect relaxing day with family, untillll my sister started getting sick before leaving!  We just need to get over this nasty sickness that is going around all of us!

On a side note as an update--
We are doing about the same!  I am ready for summer to enjoy a nice long vacation-other than summer school.  PLUS this summer we have some big plans and are going to Florida!!  His mom's family are going to stay at a resort in Florida as a celebration for 60th and 30th.  One of the 30ths is my hubbys!  We are getting so old!  Patrick and I never got a honeymoon so you can say I am very excited for a little getaway- even if its not just us 2 :)
That's about it in the McGurk world! Life is pretty fast paced these days and I need to remember to slow down and enjoy everything!

Hello 2014

Well, hello blog world! It's been a minute!
Lots of new things happening and I'm a terrible mother who didn't even post about Daylynn's first birthday! Clearly I've been very busy taking care of my sweet-not such a baby-baby, amazing hubby, and myself!
First up recap of the November and December:
November 3 we threw a birthday party for Daylynn. The theme was "you are my sunshine" with grays and yellows. It was adorable! I love how it turned out and I'm sure she did too! She is spoiled by friends and family, it's ridiculous!
Then the end of November we had Thanksgiving in Oklahoma City. We had so much fun with Patricks family. It was a nice get away and enjoyed it.
December wasn't that exciting until Holiday time! We went to my parents a few days before Christmas. Our tradition is on Christmas Eve opening stockings and maybe a few presents too. Then on Christmas morning we got up and saw what Santa brought. Daylynn got a new laptop, train set, and suitcase for traveling. She was pumped! It was so fun to see her light up like that. Then we all opened presents. She can unwrap but is still learning and was wanting the oatmeal cookies more than anything. Then after breakfast we headed back home to have Christmas with Patricks family. Then our own little family celebration. I tell you what we are all spoiled! We got a bunch of goodies and Daylynn really made out! We need a bigger house for all her stuff! Very thankful to say the least!
After the holidays, Daylynn and I went back to my parents for a few days. I know my parents were glad to see us and I enjoyed spending more time with them too!
Now we are here and looking forward to this new year full of new adventures!

Just one week left

I am still in shock that my little baby is going to be ONE in just a week!
I can still remember the day she was born like it was yesterday!  She was just the sweetest little thing ever, she still is.  I have been going through old pictures for part of her birthday celebration decorations.  She has grown up so much in such little time!  Her personality is sassier then ever!

Monday night I had class so was hoping we would get out early enough to be home before she went to bed.  She had a fussy night so Patrick put her in bed a little early but was still crying when I got home so you know I went and got her out of bed! :)  We played a little and she was clearly tired so went and rocked her.  She doesn't let me rock her to bed very often anymore so I definitely took advantage of the moment!  I just started bawling while rocking her!!  I just miss her as a baby baby, but am so lucky to watch her grow up and watch all the new things she learns to do and adventures she has.  Being a parent is the best thing in my life and I am so very thankful God blessed Patrick and I with Daylynn.  We were not planning on this little miracle but are so happy to have her in our life.

Here's to the last week with an infant in our household (for now ;)) and preparing myself emotionally to having a toddler!!
I'll leave you with a few random pictures of our little punkin!

A Weekend in Lakin

Lakin, Kansas
Lakin is about 2 ish hours from Great Bend...given the speed of course :)
It is probably one of the most boring drives ever.  If you have ever been to Dodge City this is basically the same drive you just go north once you hit there.
So Daylynn and I hit the road early Saturday morning to head to Grandma Jo's house to see the family.  She slept the majority of the way but the stinkin sun was in her eyes so couldn't sleep the entire time but was a trooper and a great little traveler.  We had an awesome day seeing everyone and playing games.  She was showing them how smart she is too :) My grandmas house is an old farmhouse with a layout where you can walk in a circle going through all the rooms.  They kinda all connect.  Daylynn loved this and kept going in circles.
Daylynn sleeps in a pack n' play for her naps at daycare but I've never put her in one otherwise.  She slept pretty well for not being in her bed.  Such a picky little thing!  She must get that from her mom...no denying that!  Then Sunday morning we got up early again and headed back home to make it in time for Church service.  She slept the entire trip back, which I hoped since she was up at 6:30 for goodness sakes!
Now that school is back in session and our little family is here in Great Bend, we only get back to Manhattan about once a month maybe 2 times.  This seems like more then nothing, but before I used to go back every weekend and see my family and Patrick so it is still a little struggle when I have to wait this long to see my family.  Its more of a struggle on them since Daylynn is growing so quick and changing every day.

*On a side note, our Librarian had her little baby girl this afternoon, and it got me a little emotional thinking about almost a year ago I was in her shoes sending a message to my co-teacher and co-workers about our little bundle of joy. AHH my baby is almost a 1 year old!!!

11 months!

Our little lady is now 11 months old!! I'm late on posting this but better late then never :)

Some updated stats on our punkin:
Weight: She's weighing at 23 pounds...really starting to thin out lately
Height: 29 inches give or take I again used the measuring tape so it is a rough estimate when she doesn't hold still

Food:
You are still a eating machine! You eat 3 meals a day and snacking in between.  You eat anything and everything.  Your favorites are still hotdogs, cheese, chicken nuggets, and fruits.
You still drink about 4 bottles a day.  Here this past week we have been kinda sick or getting sick (doctors visit tomorrow) and haven't been eating as well as your normally do.
Bedtime:
You are doing awesome at night, rather then last night that is! You normally go down about 7-8 and get up at 6:30 sometimes later on the weekends.  Last night was a not so good night with lots of wake ups.  I'm pretty sure you have an ear infection though so I can't blame ya.  Plus mom loves the extra snuggles even if that means no sleep :)
Naps:
Still getting 2 naps a day.  Most mornings you are good and ready for a nap and the afternoons as well so those won't be going anywhere any time soon.
Diapers:
Still size 3
Clothes:
Sporting the 12 months and some 18 months.  It varies by style but you are growing like a weed my baby!
Latest tricks:
You blow kisses.  I'm not sure if you were doing this for sure at 10 months but I know we were working at it.  Now when we go to leave you blow kisses or if I say I love you, you blow kisses.  It's quite possibly the best thing ever!  You are doing a lot more mocking now.  We get thank you sometimes, and uck (you like to chew on moms shoes...yuckky), and daddy.  You were saying chiefs chiefs but it was still jibbery but we know thats what you were saying after copying dad.  You also love to laugh and lean your head back.  Your dad thought he was funny and said something then started fake laughing while leaning his head back and you ahve been doing that ever since.  You love the tupperwear cabinet in the kitchen.  You could spend an hour in there playing and making music with your spoon.  It's hilarious and crazy how independent you are.  You have been walking all over since a week after your 10th birthday.  You have it down pat now and are almost running at times.  Way to big, way to fast.  You still love to put things in smaller containers and then take them out.  Last night you were putting your chicken nuggets in the tupperwear bowl and then out to take a bite then back in.  You are so smart its ridiculous! I can forsee a very very bright future for you!

This past Saturday you stayed home with Grandma Pattie for the first time over night while mom and dad went to see Blake Shelton!!  We missed you a lot and felt bad because you were having some off days but we weren't gone long and you had a blast with Grandma Pattie and Ol Dog Grandpa Mike
You clearly are loved more and more every day and we can't wait to celebrate your ONE YEAR birthday in a month!!

Love you so much Daylynn, we are truly blessed to have you as our daughter.  We can't thank God enough for letting us be your parents!!
Just chilling in her chair watching TV

Oh the many faces you have

Panther Model
Crazy hair, don't care, but love kisses from momma

Walking what?!

I am going to have a little bragging moment because I am so very proud of my little punkin! Daylynn has been walking by holding on to hands and even taking steps here and there. Well now she walks everywhere! To the kitchen, across the living room, to the bathroom, all over! It is by far the sweetest thing ever! When she is jabbering away while walking is even better! Daylynn you smart little girl you! 10 months and walking! Yay!

5 on Friday

Wellll, I must be in a blogging mood this week because this will make 3 blogs in 2 days!
I'm back again for the 5 on Friday...it's been a long while!

-ONE-

Birthdays! This past Wednesday was my hubby's birthday!  He's pretty easy to celebrate for! I cooked some Ribs, which are his favorite, and we hung out and watched TV.  His parent's brought over a DQ Ice Cream cake later in the evening too.  It's not his favorite dessert, but I think it might be one of mine :)  You know I'll be eating the leftovers all weekend! YUM!

-TWO-

Long Weekends!
I love it when we have 3 day weekend! It's even better when it involves your family and friends! As previously posted, Daylynn was baptized Saturday night so our family was in town to help celebrate our little blessed baby!

-THREE-
Green Smoothies!
You could probably say I'm addicted to these!  I'm pretty sure I've prevously had this in a 5 on Friday but they are so dang good! Pretty easy to make as well!  I have been making this every morning for Patrick and I for breakfast.  Daylynn sometimes helps me drink it too!

-FOUR-
Insanity/Gym
I have been extremely motivated these last few weeks with getting fit! I have been a crazy person and going to the gym at 5 every morning!!! It really has been perfect since Daylynn is still sleeping and by the time I pick her up from Daycare, I am limited on time to go work out at the gym.  I have; however, been also doing insanity in the afternoons as soon as we get home.  It's just the right amount of time to get a workout in and then start supper.  Daylynn enjoys the work out videos too!  Sometimes I have extra weight because I hold her when she is wanting her momma.  Feeling the burn!

-FIVE-
Big Brother
I'm almost embarrassed to put this one because it truly is a ridiculous show, but I can't get enough of it!  I have to watch it every night its on.  If I miss it because of softball or something, you better believe I'm researching who was kicked out or put up on the block haha!!
I have not however watched them outside of what is aired on the show, and people must really do that if they offer it so I'm not the worst one out there! haha

Hope you all have a fabulous Friday!!!
