6 quick weeks

And another week has flown by. I feel like I repeat myself but time really is going by in just a quick blink.
You are such a cutie and cant get enough of you!
You are sleeping longer and longer at night and that is extremely nice. Your new record is 6.5 hours! Of course mom didnt get that because I was upchecking on you!
You like to get up around 6 or 7 which is going to be good when I go back to work. I plan to start the routine so I will be a little more prepared. Im sure I will still be a mad woman trying to get us ready! Bedtime routine is down for now which is a bonus.
You are starting to enjoy your bath. I have to get it nice and toasty in the bathroom and the water. You are my child becausr I love scolding hot water and a sauna :) I completely understand!
You likd to sit up on the couch all on your own and check things out. We have lots of conversations during this time. My favorite is when you get excited and make this certain noise, love love it!
You are getting so big, my goodness! Looking back at pictures makes me a little sad at how quick you change and grow but I am looking forward to what is to come. You will be scootin before we know it the way you move and get up on your knees! Craziness I tell ya!
Friday we went and ate lunch with all the kids at school. Mom was a bit hesitant in doing this but the kidos were very excited and you were a reward for their reading formatives :)
It was a very sad stressful day for mom. We found out your sitter got another baby so she could not watch you.  This is the second time for this to happen. Not only that but you were to start in 3 weeks! I  would love to stay at home but we just cant swing that, sorry baby. Luckily the learning center had an opening!  There was also a really bad shooting at an Elementary school and it really hit home. I could not imagine losing you OR one of myother 38 kids. I absolutely love my job and my onery kids as well! My heart is very heavy and prayers to those families and community.
Saturday your dad went golfing with the guys so we had another girls day but who doesnt want a girls day with you? I love getting to spend every day with you!
Sunday was a lazy day for us, actually not really, you were having a fussy day and werent sleeping much so then were even more tired. Monday was a much better day! We went to check out the new daycare and I think youre going to like it, I hope. I am not going to lie, I am terrifiedanf heart broken thinking about me going back to work and having to lrave you, but we can do it and you will be fine! (Thats what I keep telling myself anyways)
Today you get to meet a new friend, Arden! Your dads grew up together so I am a bit excited you girls are close in age and get to be friends too! She is a doll. Then mom has her check up so we will see what you weigh, I am extremely curious how mucj youve packed on little miss!
Well little one next week will be Christmas! You wont really understand but next year gyou will, and you still are spoiled this year with lots of goodies! Love you more than words can say!

5 weeks

So it has been less than a week since I posted about your one month but you change every day so it is ok! :) (I obviously started this Monday)
This weekend we went home home to see your grandma, grandpa and your aunts and uncle. mom also had a christmas party and of course you went too. Mom has to show her baby off, plus for our friendsgiving you wer not a happy camper so I needed to show them you arent always a fussy butt. I am happy to say that you saved the fussiness for later when grandma came to get you. Poor baby had some gas bubbles. Then you were miss piggy and ate 8 oz within 3 hours! Goodness baby you were hungry! But hey you slept for like 6 hrs so that is ok!
This past week you have started to flash some real smiles and I cant get enough of it! you have also giggled a few times, we love that too! You now sleep for 4 to 5 hours at a time for me! yay making progress! You also have stsrted talking to us and enjoying wiggle time. I can get a good 30 minutes of play time on the floor. Of course your favorite thing to do still is be held. Im enjoying it while I can.  Your diaper change sessions are lots better as well, not as much screaming.  You continue to do really well in your car seat! Thank heavens!
Christmas is in a few weeks and this is one of my favorite holidays. Someday you will be able to really enjoy it too! Until then I will just dress you up and take pictures with the tree and lights.
love you little miss!

One month!

I keep asking myself, Where has the time gone? The past 4 weeks, well really year have flown by. I cant believe you are a month old.
You continue to change every day. The biggest accomplishment you have made is sleeping in your crib! Mom is extremely proud of you and thankful! We all sleep better and naps are better and more productive for mom when I am not napping and holding you too :) but I of course still get plenty of snuggle time with you!

The latest:

  • You looooove Being held...unless you are doing tummy time, wiggle time, in the bouncer {all three for like 15 minutes at a time max}, or sleeping. Thank heavens you like the baby carrier or nothing would get done :) You don't like too much wiggle time or to just lay there but you are still just a newbie so it's ok :)
  • You eat really well! We have started doing bottles during the day hoping it will help with your gas and fussy hour (pretty sure it is) which makes it a little difficult to pump when you're constantly in my arms but were making it work.
  • You hate your car seat at first but then you do great if we are moving. You do not like to just sit still. I say this now and watch it backfire on me as we are heading back towards Manhattan tomorrow.
  • As I said earlier, you are sleeping in your crib, yahoo! Now that you are sleeping in your crib, you can start sleeping longer in the night mom wont mind:) You have gone for 4 hour stretches at the most, it's normally 2-3 still though. Again, you love to eat!
  • You make just the sweetest faces from smiles to your puppy dog face. We love them all
  • You make the silliest noises too, mostly the grunts, especially in your sleep, you are very vocal.
  • You're out of newborn clothes and diapers (a few too many blow outs)
  • You take your binki when you need to keep sucking or to calm you down.
  • You know your mom and dads voices and turn when you hear them. You like to stare at us too but we like to stare back.
  • You are grasping things, mostly fingers and shirts but you will hold toys when mom helps.
  • You're still strong as heck! You hold your neck up for a long time. You can even push up on your arms and hold yourself for a little, and you like to try to stand up.
  • You are not a fan of baths but love sitting near the space heater when we get you dressed and lotioned up after.
  • You also 8/10 times HATE your diaper change, not too sure why but you do and nothing really calms you down either.  Good thing I am pretty turbo at it! I hope this gets better!
  •
I'm sure I've forgotten some things but that sums it about up. We love you very much and can't wait to see how you change and grow over the next month. Mom is not looking forward to going back to work and you going to the sitter however!

(This picture took a few times until she was finally happy. Did I mention she doesnt really like to just lay on the floor. They say you can't spoil a baby until 6 months but she is definitely spoiled!)
Happy one month! Love you baby Daylynn!

3weeks already!

My how time flies!
It's hard to believe you are 3 weeks old already! It doesn't seem possible, and feels like we were just meeting you yesterday! Your dad and I can't imagine what we did before we were blessed with you!
You have changed quite a bit since then too! Lets see you are almost out of your newborn clothes. The pants are getting a bit short as well as tight around your growing belly :) You are also starting to wear size 1 diapers! You had a few blow outs in the newborn size so mom decided it was time to move up maybe hold a little more! You are still a gassy thing but I think we have it more figured out, and you now burp really well, sometimes even without someone's help! You still get quite fussy at times because of your belly hurting, but its ok we still love you.  You have more control of your neck and can pretty much hold it up on your own for long periods of time. You are getting more alert and LOVE to just look around at everything, very curious girl you are! You have started sucking on your hands time to time now that mom doesn't make you wear mitts all the time. You have started sleeping better at night, minus last night :) but we get 3 to 4 hour stretches and momma loves that! You can sleep in the cradle for a good 2.5 to 3 hours yahoo! That is some serious progress considering you lasted ooh maybe 10 minutes, keep it up pretty girl! Your favorite way to sleep is on your tummy, don't worry I am right there but you have such good neck control mom feels comfortable and if your sleeping then that's all that matters! You try so hard to talk but can't quite get too much noise out but we are getting there. Dad feeds you bottles sometimes in the evenings and you do awesome. He loves his bonding time with you.
The best part of this past week is you got to spend lots of time with your cousin Addison and Aunt Jess. Addison is hilarious and thinks she needs to hold you all the time. You two are going to be very close I am sure! I know you can't wait until they move back to Kansas like mom! We will get to see them all the time then! Yay!
You also went to your first restaurant, Carlos OKellys. You did ok, you woke up but as soon as you were in moms arms you were out again. This is typical of you, you like to be held all the time. This is something we are working on too but it's ok we only have 5 weeks left of snuggle time until mom goes back to work ahhh not sure I am quite ready!
Today we are going to go decorate moms classroom for Christmas! We put up our Christmas tree yesterday. You don't care for the tree too much but come Christmas time I think you will enjoy it a little more.
Well baby girl we have enjoyed the past 3 weeks and bring on another week. Eek you are almost a month old and Dad and I aren't too sure what we feel about this!
Love you so much!

2 weeks!

It is hard to believe our little daughter is already 2 weeks old, 14 days! She has grown so much it seems. Things are getting easier now too. She still isnt sleeping but 3ish hours at a time at night but that is better than 2 that we were getting. She still wont sleep long in her crib/cradle but we are working on that too. With time we will get it. She is a snuggle bug and I love it and cant resist, especially at night. She still makes her faces and noises while she sleeps and we love to just sit and watch her.
Lets see this week we finally ventured out of the house. Mom was getting a little stir crazy and we needed to get you used to your seat before our big drive back to Wamego. We went to Wal Mart to get a few things. You did great, a few times you started to cry but the paci saved the day. You didn't enjoy being in the seat any longer when we were on our way home so I hurried back to get you out. Friday we went and visited all moms other kids at school. They thought you were "pretty cool"! It was sweet. Then Friday after dad got home we hit the road to grandmas. You did pretty good on the 2.5 hr drive. You had enough come Manhattan, which was still a half hour from grandmas but we survived. Grandma said she would keep you through the night so mom and dad could get a good night sleep. I was very excited to get a night sleep, heck even a stretch of more than 2 hours :) and what do you know, you slept awesome for grandma. Such a stinker you are, grandma must have that special touch. Saturday we went to see Kristin and Moe at Ds bday! You were a bit fussy but that's ok you were due for a snack and sleep! Saturday night we had Friendsgiving at Jess and Phil's. we were so excited to show you off, you however, were not feeling it at first. It was fussy pants time at 6 so we hung out in the guest room for a bit calming you down. Eventually you were sleeping and content :) Hopefully you didn't scare Sherri and Erica too much! (She doesn't get fussy all the time, just at dinner time seems to be her routine) Kstate lost and we were all very sad. We still love our wildcats though! Sunday morning real early Aunt Jess, Uncle Brennan, and cousin Addi arrives! Yayyyy we have been waiting to see them! They love you too little miss! We spent the day with them before heading back home. You a slept the entire way back, momma is proud! We took it easy yesterday because today was going to be a big day, your 2 week check up! We were curious how much you weighed since you gained weight in the hospital and you love to eat! You are up to 8 lbs 4 oz. we have a piglet on our hands :) Doc, mom, and dad are very proud! Keep it up little lady! Everything else is perfect as well!
We are slowly making progress on sleeping in the crib. You slept for a few hours last night and today. I wish you could sleep on your stomach because that is your favorite. Not much longer until you can, work on your neck control and rolling and then we will see, but don't grow too quick. We're not ready for that! We started giving you bottles sometimes t night or evening so dad gets a turn too. He loves to feed you as well and you eat and burp so good for him :) love it!
Well that's about it for this past week, week 3 will be full of family and food (for mom and dad too)
Loving you even more than before little Daylynn!

one week

Daylynn, we have made it through one crazy week! Goodness are you one loved baby! We have had lots of visitors but were happy to meet/see them all. Your uncle Devin and Nikki came to meet you, all but aunt Jess on your mommas side came to see you, and a few others. We also got to dress you up in your kstate gear and cheer on those Wildcats we love! We are glad youwere around to watch ourcats move to #1.
Grandma Tanji helped mom out and watched you so I could get a quick nap in. That is one thing I was not prepared for, the lack of sleep I would be getting. You slept pretty much the entire time in the hospital and for long stretches, esp at night, but once we got you home silly thing, those long stretches disappeared. We also learned you are quite the gassy thing.  This was part of our fussy nights of not sure if you are hungry or just need to toot. Boy was it stressful for your mom. Your grandma left Sunday and I was rather sad and wished she could help me every day :) if only we were closer. She was extremely helpful and wasnt sure I was ready without her but gotta start sometime :). Patrick as I said is a natural with you. He just adores you and is an awesome dad! He changes your diapers, puts you back to seep and is the best at burping you! I am terrible at burping you, iy takes me a long time sometimes but were getting better. You are by far the hardest baby i have burped though, of course since yourr my baby :)
Lets see what else, you loooove to be held ALL the time, even when sleeping. That was a bad habit I started and now you wont sleep in the crib/cradle. ooops! We are trying to swaddle you up and use a blanket to fool you into thinking you are lying with someone but you are too smart and arent falling for that! You are at least back to somewhat long stretches again which your mom sure appreviates!
You make some of the cutest noises and faces in your sleep. Your dad and I love to watch and listen. We really love when you smile even if you dont realize you are. it is absolutely adorable. You are eating very well. Sometimes you just want a quick snack which means I feed you more often so I try to make you eat more, have to help you grow big and healthy!
Your umbilical cord came off today too! Yay no more freezing alcohol to dry it up and real bath time!
Well it is time to burp!

A baby story....

Welcome Daylynn Renee McGurk!!
Your dad and I feel very blessed to have such a healthy, beautiful baby girl. We waited what seems like forever for you to arrive and life feels more complete now that you are! Looking at my last post, we clearly were not very patient anymore and wanted you to come :) but you were sweet enough not to make us wait until Thursday so thank you little miss for that.
It all started Sunday night. I was starting to feel contractions, well maybe. I wasn't too terribly sure because my Braxton hicks never hurt. I wasn't sure if these were false labor or what so I watched the time just to see and they weren't close enough or consistent so just dealt with them for the night. During the day I didn't have too many and was still figuring you weren't going to come on your terms. Well, little did I know I would be wrong!
After work, Your dad cleaned the jeep and we put it in base just to be extra ready and one last thing to do later. I wanted either Mexican or my usual Applebee's. I was going to go to Applebee's with Vicki and Nicholl but then Vicki had a hair appt so we rescheduled for Tuesday. Your dad didn't want to go any where so we just stayed in. I decided to take a bath to relax and help a little with the back pain these contractions were giving me. I talked to Jess on the phone and even told her that I didn't predict anything happening and we even talked about how most women's water doesn't break on its own.
Haha! Again little did I know what was ahead! I slept on the couch because the contractions were not very comfortable but still didn't expect labor was in store. Around 2 or so they were getting closer and consistent so I just kept riding it out until I knew for sure this was the real deal. Whelp, come 4 ish it was the real deal, my water broke! Ahhh it was one of the weirdest thing, not that anyone probably wants to know. So basically I woke up your dad and we were on our way to the....oops we took the scenic route because we started going to the old hospital. :)
One thing I was never told to do was pre-register at the hospital, not even during our tour. (So note to you mommies to be, register at the hospital too.)  As we arrived, contractions and water still leaking, we had to register, which took forever! Thank heavens I wasn't in serious pain! Finally back in our delivery room I got all set up. I was still not very dilated so it was basically going to be a long day before we were going to deliver. I knew I was going to get an epidural but woowee. I made it 6ish hours without it, mostly because I had to. Your dad and grandma Tanji were amazing in helping me get through the painful time. Once I got the epidural, life was peachy :)  Then before we knew it, it was time to get the ball rolling! Oh my were we emotional. We were about to welcome this little girl into our life and it was the most special moment! After 35 minutes Daylynn was here!!  Absolutely perfect! I have to say that dad of yours is a natural and I love him even more than before! He was/is so in love with you and it just melts my heart.  We got to spend some time with you alone before visitors came, which was nice. We are just so overwhelmed with happiness and love for our daughter!
We had lots of guests and everyone just adores you, which how could they not!  We finally got to go home yesterday. Grandma Tanji is staying a few days so it was nice to catch back up on some sleep, but thankfully you are a sleeper. I pray it continues.
We are just thankful for how smooth the entire pregnancy and delivery went. God truly works in mysterious ways. The only thing missing is Grandma Day but knows she is oohing and ahhing up above!

40 weeks!

When I found out I was pregnant I thought the coming months were going to take forever to go by. Time actually flew by extremely fast. We did have a lot going on from the time I found out until now which definitely helped not make time stand still.  I also thought there was going to be no way I would still be pregnant come 40 weeks, I figured she would be early. Ha not a chance! Not sure what I was thinking. I can't really complain because I haven't been too uncomfortable, but she is really testing my patience, already! I am so ready to meet her, I can't stand the wait anymore! The doctor yesterday said come back Wednesday and we will induce either Thursday or Friday! Woohoo little miss will finally be here in less than a week! (Patrick and I have been thinking that for a few weeks now, but this time it is for real) She is getting extra healthy and probably chunky still cooking and loving life in the womb right now. I am still wondering how my belly is going to get any bigger over the next week. Eek she is scrunched as is!
On another note, Patrick and I are sick! Ahhh who wants to be sick right before or during the arrival of their new baby! I blame Patrick on getting me sick since he came back from Texas and didn't feel too well the day after. Thanks honey! It is getting more difficult to sleep at night being pregnant, let alone not being able to breathe. It is stressing me out just a tad. I don't want to be sick when she comes so I have been popping the vitamin c and some mucinex because that is one thing on my list that I can take, and tried to get lots of rest last night and today.  While resting today I will be enjoying another Wildcat victory and "patiently" awaiting Daylynn!

Patiently waiting...

39 Weeks down, 1 to go...
I certainly hope she doesn't make us wait another week, but I suppose it is a good thing she is still growing.  I hope she doesn't get too chunky this week :)
After my doctor appointment Thursday I felt better about the hubs being in Texas for the weekend. Doc said no progress from the week before which was basically nothing at that point too! My mom and sisters came to stay for the weekend just in case something were to happen while he was gone but baby girl isstill just hanging out so thankfully I didnt have to worry about rushing Patrick home. I was bummed to miss Jordan and Bethany's wedding though. Patrick had a blast of course. Some day I will get to experience the Austin life! It was nice to get to hang with my family. We went to Applebees on Friday, my favorite. Patrick doesnt care for it so I always drag whoever I can there whenever I can.The fiesta lime chicken might be my pregnancy craving but I could probably eat it every day. So Good!  Then yesterday we went to Wal Mart and then watched the cats dominate yet again! We stayed in for the rest of the weekend. It was very relaxing and definitely needed before a hectic week ahead. We have a lot going on this week at school with their music program, Halloween, and celebrations of grades and no tardies. I guess it might be a good thing I am there for the craziness...we shall see what this week brings. All I do know is if little miss is not here by Friday, we decide when she will be :)
Have a happy Halloween and be safe!

Nursery...check!

Well we finally got the nursery all finished, crib and everything!  My parents came to visit Saturday and brought the crib, a dresser, and a glider.  She already had a dresser FULL of clothes (a bit spoiled) and a cubicle bookshelf.  After putting the crib together, we realized it was WAY bigger than we first thought so we had to rearrange a bit so things are a big snug.  It works perfect for now so we can't complain! It is nice to have that finished and make things seem even more real! :)

My coworkers threw me a baby shower Wednesday and they got us the bedding for the crib and these adorable diaper rag/burp cloths with her name on them! Absolutely love them! Very blessed to have such great friends and people I work with! Makes my job even more enjoyable!
Now that we have the nursery ready we are both even more anxious for her to arrive :) I had conferences this past week so needed, well wanted, her to wait until they were over. Now they are done so any time youre ready little miss, we are too! Patrick is planning on going to one if his best friends weddings this coming weekend in Texas, so now we hope she comes before he has to leave or waits until after. If she comes around that time he is supposed to leave he will of course stay but after my last doc appt, I think its going to be a week or so until she comes. she will be here when she is ready. It will all work out!
I had a 3 day weekend with conferences last weekend so that was extremely nice to have a day to relax!! Saturday I ran some errands and then we had dinner and watched the Cats dominate with some friends. We went to The Page and I have never seen it so busy, it was intense! Pretty proud to be a wildcat fan! Can't wait to dress little miss up in her gear and cheer them on as well! Today w ill be another lazy day. Patrick went golfing but fantasy will be taking over here in a few hours ;)
Here is to another week of the waiting game!

Nesting...

Apparently I am going through the nesting stage because I have been on cleaning mode all day. We got a cubicle shelf for our wedding and had yet been put together so I insisted Patrick get that done :) We ended up putting it in her room since we dont have much more space in our living room. Then I rearranged Daylynns room so next weekend when my parents come with her crib all we will need to do is set it up! We are realizing the room is going to be rather comfy once we get her crib and the rocker in there, but it will be perfect! I washed her bottle and got those ready. I set up her swing, so she will be ready to be rocked to sleep :) We will start out with her cradle in our room so I moved the bed a little so it will fit. I cleaned the fridge, kitchen, and bathroom! It has been a productive day in the McGurk household. We still need to clean our garage but I suppose that can wait another day ;) Also while cleaning, I found my computer charger! Patrick is happy he no longer has to share his. I mostly use my iPad anyways but at times need a real computer.
We have 4 weeks to go if we make it to our due date, but after the last few days, I have a feeling she will come early. Patrick will possibly be in Texas a week before she is due so let's hope she decides to wait or come before then! I'm pretty sure she is starting to get ready and I am kind of a baby when it comes to pain. Labor could be interesting to say the least. I started to pack her and I's hospital bags the other day. I got all the final necessities yesterday with my mom. I may be a bit behind but had been putting it off, now we are getting closer and I feel much better knowing that is finished and we will be ready to walk out the door. Thank you Vanessa for help on my list as well! (I hadn't thought of some of those things) I just hope she waits a few weeks, I've got parent teacher conferences starting next Monday, then whenever you're  ready little miss, we are too!

Daylynn Renee McGurk

Welcome baby girl! Did you know deciding on a name is a little difficult?! Your dad and I took awhile to completely decide your name. From the beginning we threw out some names we liked before we knew you were a little girl. I have always loved Danica since I was a little girl, well with the race car driver Danica Patrick we decided nay on that choice. We moved on to the next choice Daylynn. I wanted that as your first name but got moved to your middle name for awhile with possibly Marlee as your first name. Either way you were having Daylynn as part of your name, that was not a choice. The Marlee got thrown out after a few days so you were just Baby Daylynn (baby in place of a blank for your first name). Well come July 4th your dad finally decided Daylynn it was! We then had your first name finalized just needed a middle name. I was very thankful and very happy he loved using Daylynn as your first name. Why does this name mean so much and how did I think of it? Well you are named after a very special lady! We called your great great grandma, Day. She was an exceptional woman and it really saddens me you were not able to meet her. She passed away about 3months ago. She loved you very much and tried hard to stick around so she could meet you but thankfully she was not in pain anymore. She got to see your ultrasound pictures and was still here when we decided Daylynn was going to be either part of your name. She also watched you grow and kick in my belly. She even left you a letter we have framed. You were a blessing in disguise for us. God works in mysterious ways and as much as it kills me your Grandma Day is now shining down on us instead of in our presence, she is now your guardian angel and think this must have been his plan all along. Anyways you are a lucky girl being named after such an amazing person. You have been loved the minute we found out about you :) You have brought a lot of joy to our family and you aren't even born yet! We love you Daylynn Renee and can't wait to meet you and watch you grow!

windows down and cruise

First off Patrick and I's favorite song is cruise by Florida Georgia Line. We can't get enough of it! It is fitting for our weekend as well. We headed back to Manhattan/Wamego for the last time before our lives completely change and w we meet our sweet baby girl! I had another baby shower and then we took some maternity pictures. I gained a ton of great advice and heard some very hilarious stories! I'm not sure if I am more prepared or now more scared ha ha! It was fun though! Then in the evening we met up with Patricks old boss' wife for maternity pictures. She did an amazing job and can't wait to see how they turned out! Patrick wasn't too thrilled but he was a good sport and we ended having fun. Then we stayed for dinner and Jess and Phil came over too. Saying good bye to them made me get emotional. It is weird to think we won't see them again possibly until I am a mother ahhh! Only 5 weeks left. Where has the time gone?! I am very thankful it has flown by but atthe same time, I have been extremely lucky to have a good pregnancy thus far! My friends and family have been extremely helpful and supportive. Not to mention my amazing husband who has been positive and excited about everything. I am a very lucky lady! I am excited for our new adventure ahead.. While on our 2 hour cruise, I decided since I have been a slacker I would start making a list of things to pack in my hospital bag and baby girls. I also made a calling tree list so I don't have to call everyone myself. I also did some grading. I'd say it was a productive drive. Well we are about to stop to get a pumpkin spice latte on our way back. I have been craving one andthe there is no Starbucks in GB which is probably a good thing for me!

6 weeks to go!!!!

It's been awhile since I have updated...
Last weekend I had my first baby shower. We didn't really look into the fact there was a home game and we chose Varneys as the location. Oops! there was a parade for the marching bands so people had to park a long ways and walk but it was pretty awesome getting to watch the parade from Varneys. I also got some great things and we had delicious food. Bruce made his amazing chili for my shower, pretty much my favorite! I also got a picture with the Mask!!
After doing the baby shower thing, I met up with some more friends to do some tailgating! I knew it was going to be the last game to tailgate without a baby so took advantage! We also were very lucky and got tickets from some friends here in Great Bend. I was exhausted so let Phil go in with Patrick so I could go back and  relax. It was a long day full of fun!
The next day went home to hang out with family while Patrick played in a tournament. It was nice to hang out and see them since it has been awhile since I have seen them.  I needed some family time. Then we headed back home, and I was definitely ready to be home.  Car rides are getting a little more uncomfortable for me and gets me a little flustered when i can't get situated! We have a baby shower next weekend again and a wedding in Kansas City the next two weekends but A four hour drive sounds terrible but we shall see, it would be fun at least.
Moving on to the important thing right now is baby girl! She is still wiggling and hiccuping all over the place. The other night Jess and I were sitting there just watching her move and see my belly form to her shape. It is quite possibly the most amazing feeling ever! I'm still feeling pretty great other than a few break downs here and there, mostly about clothes. Ugh, it was getting chilly and I can't fit in hardly any of my pants without a belly band which I find extremely uncomfortable. My belly has grown too much. I thankfully didn't have to buy hardly any maternity clothes, just a few tops and I didn't want to have to buy any pants with 6 weeks left. I ended up getting a pair of yoga type pants  and they have been made my life better haha :) It is hard to believe that in 3 weeks I will be considered full term and within the following 3weeks our baby girl could be here anytime. I hope she stays cooking until she is due but am anxious to meet her. I am hoping my doctor decides I can get a 3d sonogram because I'd love to see her face :) That's all for now...dinner is calling :)

Just because you are the most....

Attractive pregnant woman ever...
Yes this was said to me this weekend and my did it make me feel good about my pregnant self!!!!
I have gained some weight but thankfully it has mostly just been my belly. I remember when the movie What to expect when expecting came out and after watching I felt like I had no glow going on. Yes I was happy and excited just didn't really enjoy pregnancy, not that I fully enjoy it now either but it is much better and I absolutely love feeling little miss wiggle around inside me. It really does just make me smile ear to ear, I love it!  This weekend I was told I was glowing so it made me feel good knowing that I am starting to enjoy pregnancy and feel good! Then later in the evening at the wedding, we were debating on whether to go out after or not. Clearly I did not really want to go out, not only was I exhausted but what pregnant girl wants to go to the bars? Well Leave it to Trent for dropping the opening line to me.  Haha how could I not feel awesome about myself and he definitely helped Patrick out and that convinced me to go. We did end up having a fun time people watching and we all had some good laughs. That's a story in itself.
Ok let's start with Friday. I rode to Salina with Pattie since hubs was doing his training all last week. I was sure happy to see him! It's weird to think that just 4 months ago I had to go without seeing him during the week for a year, but when you are used to seeing someone everyday it's hard not to see them. (I think that is why not having Day around is extra difficult for our family.) After meeting up with Patrick, we hit the road to Topeka. We ended up getting there at a perfect time for us because we didn't have to stand in the rain. It was so good to see some friends and some we haven't seen for like a year. Then we just went back to the hotel.  This mama went to bed.
Wedding Saturday: the weather turned out perfect for Jed and Heather and was beautiful with the roses.  Then we had a break until the reception so the group went to go hang out. The pregnant ladies were needing some boost too so Erica and I went to Starbucks to get some coffee mmm so that helped gain some energy. The reception was an absolute blast! We got down on the dance floor and sang lots of song and even had some live entertainment from Jed, Trent, and Casey.  Toooo much fun! Then we ended up going to Jeremaiah Bullfrogs when Trent dropped the infamous line. That was pretty hilarious between girls wearing lingerie and girls hitting on one of the guys.  We finally called it a night which I was thankful for because I really was tired!
Sunday: Patrick had some buddies in town that he lived with in college so he went golfing while I ran some errands and got his birthday presents. It was a nice day with my long lost friend Jess too. Then we had a BBQ with the crew. We had fun reminiscing of the previous night. We then went back to manhattan to hang out with his friend Dane. They only see each other a few times a year so it was good to see him. Then we stayed at Jess and Phils. Speaking of Phil and Jess they asked us to be a part of their wedding next July. We couldn't be excited to help celebrate our best friends wedding with them! Love them both and miss getting to hang out every weekend!!
Monday: we headed back pretty early so we could do some relaxing before starting the work week. Poor Patrick hadnt been home for over a week. That afternoon I decided to go through baby stuff from Addison. I washed all the clothes up to 6 months.  It was fun to go through and fold everything. It's hard to believe we will be parents in 8ish weeks. I am getting anxious but a little scared too. I have plenty of experience so I am not too worried just different when it will be mine. Some of our friends just had their babies so it get me more nd more excited.
The nursery is still not quite ready. I went through the clothes so that has helped cler up some space. The cradle is ready besides the matching bedding I'd like. My parents are bringing the crib and chair this weekend so hopefully then it will feel even more real.  I also met my new doctor last week and couldn't be happier. I know I'm in good hands and will be taken care of. He said she's already head down and had to have been for awhile because she's been kicking my right ribs out for a few weeks, silly girl already a pistol.  I'm hoping he lets me do a 3d sono because I am so curious what she looks like and if I have to wait  I guess I can but would love to see her one last time.
Hmmm let see what else...it was hubby's birthday Tuesday. The big 28. He got some pretty sweet gifts this year and was very excited about his new 2wood. Not only did he get a new club but he got a few games at the club and a membership at the lake. He clearly is a golfer.
That's about it in our lives...
Looking forward to my upcoming baby showers and maternity pictures :) Patrick can't wait either ;)

Birthday fun!

Another great weekend passes.
Today is my mother-in-laws birthday so we did some celebrating. Friday we just stayed in and relaxed. It was a loong day for me and my hormones haha. Saturday I cleaned and prepared for company. I loved being a host! It was lots of fun and made our house feel even more homey.  I also finally got some pictures in the frames on the walls :) about time for sure.
Anyways, back to Saturday, Devin and Nikki were coming to town and then Pattie came over for dinner. The boys played some ball while us gals sat around and talked. It was gorgeous outside so it was an even more amazing night. We eventually grilled and stuffed our faces. The night ended the best with some home videos.  LOVE watching home videos, especially when they are of your husband and his family.  They were pretty priceless and it was a great time all sitting and laughing. Pattie left them here so we can check the rest out, and that will definitely be happening.

Today was another good day, and a proud one for me. One of Patricks favorite things to do is play golf. I tried hitting balls once at the range and whiffed every time so never tried again. Pattie and Nikki wanted to golf so us three went. I had planned on just driving around with them and watching. They, however, insisted I try it out. I gave in and after a few whiffs finally hit the ball.  It was pretty fun. I'm no pro of course but I didn't do too terrible for the first time. We played best ball and I am happy to say we even went off my hits a few times.  My belly got in the way some so I am going with I'll be even more awesome when I am not preggers. I am excited about this as you can tell! Maybe appropriate shoes would have helped to, like I said I didn't plan on playing so this girl was playing in flip flops haha

It's crazy looking back and seeing how much your life can change in a year. Last year for Patties birthday we were all together grilling out as well. I would not have guessed Patrick and I would be where we are now but I couldn't be happier about life's events other than missing Day like crazy! Ts been a rough few days and not having her here made it even harder. She is giving me strength from up above.

I hope this next week flies by! We get to reunite with our friends for a wedding and we can't wait! I am also looking forward to a 3 day weekend followed by hubby's birthday! We actually get to celebrate together this year :)
Here's to a great quick week!

Baby steps...

Let's start with a recap of our weekend... Friday we busted our butts to Manhattan for the Jones rehearsal dinner. I was definitely ready for bed come the end. The next morning I was up and at em early to start getting ready with the ladies. Kristin rented the Houston street cottage and whoever decorated the house needs to come decorate for me! It was beautiful. The bride was also absolutely stunning. She is normally seen in shorts and a hoodie so it was even more amazing to see her in her dress. The wedding was prefect as well! Everything went as planned and the reception was a blast, even sober :) Not only did one of my best friends get married, another got engaged! Phil proposed to Jess Saturday night and he had a great plan! I am super excited for them and can't wait for their big day. She was so helpful for my wedding and hope I can be as helpful to her too. I am just so happy for them! On Sunday before we left we ate lunch with the newest bride to be! I love seeing my friends happy! That is about it for our eventful weekend! We had a fun time and ready for another wedding in a few weeks! Until then its work and baby time. My parents are bringing the baby stuff this weekend so we can get little miss' room ready! I will feel much better knowing it is done andjust have to wait for her arrival which I can most definitely handle waiting for that. As of now the later the better but still exited to meet this acrobat in my belly :)

Let the craziness begin...

Well my first day of school was Wednesday and it went pretty great! I had forgotten how tiring it is teaching and standing all day and boy were my feet sore! I have been rather lazy mostly sitting all summer so it was quite a change. I would be exhausted at the end of the day but these past few days I have felt that way by LUNCH! It probably doesnt help that my iron and hemoglobin are low, ooops. I have always had issues with iron. Our district offered a free prescreening health test and it was rather helpful and interesting. Oh and speaking off health tests I DID pass my glucose test :) yay! no 3 hour test! That was some good news and really the only good news for Monday. I found out the babysitter I had lined up since late April ended up forgetting and took on too many other kids. I was extremely upset because I actually felt comfortable with her since I knew her, well now we need to find someone else. Then I had my doctor appt and was told my doctor will no longer be delivering after September. Ahhhhhhhh! Lets just say I got a little emotional on her. I am anal and like to have my ducks in a row and everything organized so I was extremely stressed. New babysitter and new doctor?! What was next? Great Bend only really has one obgyn and I dont want to travel so what to do. Patrick of course wasnt worried, which I am thankful for him and him making me feel better.
So the next morning I called their family doctor to see if they deliver and was told no. This got me down but decided to just wait it out to see what my current doc was going to do. Strange enough the family doctors wife went to visit my mother in law and in fact he does deliver! oh thank heavens! God and Day were looking out for me! So now I have a new doctor and I couldnt be happier and feel better especially knowing he has been Patricks doctor too. Weew  one thing figured out, just need a sitter. hopefully simething works out for that too!
Anywho, now Patrick and I are off to Manhattan for one of my best friends wedding! I am re excited, it is going to be perfect. Bring on the Jones wedding!!

Life is good in the McGurk household!!

Well this week flew by for me!! I tried to sleep in for the last few days since  I knew I wouldn't get to for quite some time.  I guess there are the weekends, but for some reason, I never can seem to sleep in once I get back into a routine of getting up early! It is rather annoying at times!

Patricks new job is going great! He has been doing the normal training but he seems to be enjoying it.  BTW- the ribs turned out great!  I didn't get them in the crock pot as early as I should have to get them finished by 6 so they weren't falling off the bone but we let them cook for another hour and they were perfect! I made plenty so he would have some for lunch over the next few days.  It was nice getting to spend lunch with him Monday through Wednesday before I had to be back to the school all day.  We enjoyed it while we could.  He even brought me food from the Taco Bus on Wednesday..mm it was good! First time to eat off a food truck!
Wednesday after lunch, wasn't so good, I had to go get my glucose screening and a shot.  I had been putting it off all week but the time had come.  I was at the regional center for over 3 hours between waiting for them to take my blood to check if I passed or not and getting my Rh shot.  I don't even know if I passed after that long wait, but the good thing is, is the shot didn't hurt as much as the nurse said it would, and the lady who took my blood was amazing! It didn't hurt at all!  Day would have loved her :)  She must have been looking over me as always!  And boy do I miss that lady more than anything.
Thursday was back to work for me full time.  I realized I had way more work to do than expected.  It was a long day of work in the classroom.  Friday I had meetings so had little time in the classroom, so lots to finish on Monday and Tuesday before school starts! AHH!  I will have so much to do to prepare for my sub too!  Good thing I have a little time to prepare still!  I am happy to be back at school though! I'm ready for things to settle down a little and get back in a routine and get to hang out with those long lost co-workers of mine!

Life is good in the McGurk household!!

Back to the Grind

Well our couple week staycation honeymoon, if you will, has come to an end.  Patrick started his new job today and I have been going to the school to get some work done and meetings and whatever else.  These last couple of weeks were much needed for the both of us, even if I was getting a little bored towards the end.
Me being the awesome wife that I am, is cooking ribs for dinner.  They are one of Patricks favorites.  I pretty proud and thankful of him so I decided I would make him some yummy ribs for a little celebration of his new job.  Well I of course had to ask a few people on exactly how do you make ribs, because this lady has never cooked them before.  I'd say I am a pretty good cook, but like to follow the recipe or directions or it will not taste good.  My mom, Pattie, and Jess all saved the day.  Pattie even let me use her special rub which was nice.  The house smells amazing right now, hope he likes them :)

This past weekend we had our first trip back home out of the many upcoming trips.  I planned to get my social security card, DL, and the correct marriage license. to get the first two.  Well two out of three isn't bad right?  I failed to call and see what the hours of the Social Securtiy place were and when I thought about it, it was too late.  Why on earth do places like that close at 3:30?!!! Thats silly to me, people should not have to take off work just to go get a new social security.  Bleh, guess I will mail it in like most people do.  Patrick played in the Pott. County Fair tournament in Onaga alllll weekend.  It was an all nighter, all weekender thing.  I only got to watch him Sunday because this mama can't stay up late anymore :)  It was also Kristin's bachelorette party Saturday night.  It was a fun time!  I can't wait for her wedding in a couple weeks!  Speaking of wedding, my dress for her wedding still fit! You can't even imagine how relieved and glad I am not to have to take the dress back to get a different size.  I had a heck of time with my wedding dress after growing in certain areas being preggers.  It all worked out but was a pain!

Well thats about all the updates we have as of now.  School starts next week and I'm ready to meet my new kidos.  They are probably going to be annoyed that for the second year in a row, they will have a long term sub because their teacher is pregnant, but I am oh so excited about meeting this precious girl and spending some quality time with her until after the new year...if she comes close to the time shes due of course :)  27 weeks down 13 to go and boy is it flying by!!
(Here are some pictures from our wedding since I couldn't post last time)

Probably my favorite picture out of all...The boys and Patrick.

New to the Blogging World

Where to start?! Patrick and I have had some great changes take place here lately. We just got married, moved in our new house in Great Bend, and are expecting our first bundle of joy in November. We couldn't be more excited or happy about everything! Life is going pretty amazing for us! I decided to make a little blog to keep in touch with our friends and family. It almost feels like back in the day having MySpace haha. This past week we got everything put away and organized in our house. It is nice to get to decorate a little and put up pictures and what not. We still need to set the nursery up but we still have some time for that. The majority of the baby stuff is still at my parents because we didnt have room for it yet. Speaking of baby, have I mentioned how excited we are?! I am 26 weeks and loving her acrobatic self moving around in my belly. It is pretty amazing. Patrick can feel her too and boy is that a great feeling to see him light up and get excited too! Love it! He has been absolutely amazing throughout this whole process, I could not ask for a better husband and father of our little girl. He has been extremely supportive and helpful. He is gonna be a great daddy! Enough bragging :) other than moving in we have been rather lazy enjoying the married life (even though it doesn't feel much different, it's still great)! We have another week to be lazy before Patrick starts his new job and I have to go back to work myself. There isn't too much to do in good ol GB especially with this nasty heat, so being hermits for another week will have to do. We miss everyone back in Manhattan already but our calendar is already full of every other weekend trips back or near the area until baby so that will help keep us busy. One of his good friends is actually moving back to GB this coming week as well. Thank you Taylor!! I wanted to close this post with some pictures from our wedding but for some reason the iPad doesn't want me to choose pictures to upload. Sad.
