3weeks already!

My how time flies!
It's hard to believe you are 3 weeks old already! It doesn't seem possible, and feels like we were just meeting you yesterday! Your dad and I can't imagine what we did before we were blessed with you!
You have changed quite a bit since then too! Lets see you are almost out of your newborn clothes. The pants are getting a bit short as well as tight around your growing belly :) You are also starting to wear size 1 diapers! You had a few blow outs in the newborn size so mom decided it was time to move up maybe hold a little more! You are still a gassy thing but I think we have it more figured out, and you now burp really well, sometimes even without someone's help! You still get quite fussy at times because of your belly hurting, but its ok we still love you.  You have more control of your neck and can pretty much hold it up on your own for long periods of time. You are getting more alert and LOVE to just look around at everything, very curious girl you are! You have started sucking on your hands time to time now that mom doesn't make you wear mitts all the time. You have started sleeping better at night, minus last night :) but we get 3 to 4 hour stretches and momma loves that! You can sleep in the cradle for a good 2.5 to 3 hours yahoo! That is some serious progress considering you lasted ooh maybe 10 minutes, keep it up pretty girl! Your favorite way to sleep is on your tummy, don't worry I am right there but you have such good neck control mom feels comfortable and if your sleeping then that's all that matters! You try so hard to talk but can't quite get too much noise out but we are getting there. Dad feeds you bottles sometimes in the evenings and you do awesome. He loves his bonding time with you.
The best part of this past week is you got to spend lots of time with your cousin Addison and Aunt Jess. Addison is hilarious and thinks she needs to hold you all the time. You two are going to be very close I am sure! I know you can't wait until they move back to Kansas like mom! We will get to see them all the time then! Yay!
You also went to your first restaurant, Carlos OKellys. You did ok, you woke up but as soon as you were in moms arms you were out again. This is typical of you, you like to be held all the time. This is something we are working on too but it's ok we only have 5 weeks left of snuggle time until mom goes back to work ahhh not sure I am quite ready!
Today we are going to go decorate moms classroom for Christmas! We put up our Christmas tree yesterday. You don't care for the tree too much but come Christmas time I think you will enjoy it a little more.
Well baby girl we have enjoyed the past 3 weeks and bring on another week. Eek you are almost a month old and Dad and I aren't too sure what we feel about this!
Love you so much!

2 weeks!

It is hard to believe our little daughter is already 2 weeks old, 14 days! She has grown so much it seems. Things are getting easier now too. She still isnt sleeping but 3ish hours at a time at night but that is better than 2 that we were getting. She still wont sleep long in her crib/cradle but we are working on that too. With time we will get it. She is a snuggle bug and I love it and cant resist, especially at night. She still makes her faces and noises while she sleeps and we love to just sit and watch her.
Lets see this week we finally ventured out of the house. Mom was getting a little stir crazy and we needed to get you used to your seat before our big drive back to Wamego. We went to Wal Mart to get a few things. You did great, a few times you started to cry but the paci saved the day. You didn't enjoy being in the seat any longer when we were on our way home so I hurried back to get you out. Friday we went and visited all moms other kids at school. They thought you were "pretty cool"! It was sweet. Then Friday after dad got home we hit the road to grandmas. You did pretty good on the 2.5 hr drive. You had enough come Manhattan, which was still a half hour from grandmas but we survived. Grandma said she would keep you through the night so mom and dad could get a good night sleep. I was very excited to get a night sleep, heck even a stretch of more than 2 hours :) and what do you know, you slept awesome for grandma. Such a stinker you are, grandma must have that special touch. Saturday we went to see Kristin and Moe at Ds bday! You were a bit fussy but that's ok you were due for a snack and sleep! Saturday night we had Friendsgiving at Jess and Phil's. we were so excited to show you off, you however, were not feeling it at first. It was fussy pants time at 6 so we hung out in the guest room for a bit calming you down. Eventually you were sleeping and content :) Hopefully you didn't scare Sherri and Erica too much! (She doesn't get fussy all the time, just at dinner time seems to be her routine) Kstate lost and we were all very sad. We still love our wildcats though! Sunday morning real early Aunt Jess, Uncle Brennan, and cousin Addi arrives! Yayyyy we have been waiting to see them! They love you too little miss! We spent the day with them before heading back home. You a slept the entire way back, momma is proud! We took it easy yesterday because today was going to be a big day, your 2 week check up! We were curious how much you weighed since you gained weight in the hospital and you love to eat! You are up to 8 lbs 4 oz. we have a piglet on our hands :) Doc, mom, and dad are very proud! Keep it up little lady! Everything else is perfect as well!
We are slowly making progress on sleeping in the crib. You slept for a few hours last night and today. I wish you could sleep on your stomach because that is your favorite. Not much longer until you can, work on your neck control and rolling and then we will see, but don't grow too quick. We're not ready for that! We started giving you bottles sometimes t night or evening so dad gets a turn too. He loves to feed you as well and you eat and burp so good for him :) love it!
Well that's about it for this past week, week 3 will be full of family and food (for mom and dad too)
Loving you even more than before little Daylynn!

one week

Daylynn, we have made it through one crazy week! Goodness are you one loved baby! We have had lots of visitors but were happy to meet/see them all. Your uncle Devin and Nikki came to meet you, all but aunt Jess on your mommas side came to see you, and a few others. We also got to dress you up in your kstate gear and cheer on those Wildcats we love! We are glad youwere around to watch ourcats move to #1.
Grandma Tanji helped mom out and watched you so I could get a quick nap in. That is one thing I was not prepared for, the lack of sleep I would be getting. You slept pretty much the entire time in the hospital and for long stretches, esp at night, but once we got you home silly thing, those long stretches disappeared. We also learned you are quite the gassy thing.  This was part of our fussy nights of not sure if you are hungry or just need to toot. Boy was it stressful for your mom. Your grandma left Sunday and I was rather sad and wished she could help me every day :) if only we were closer. She was extremely helpful and wasnt sure I was ready without her but gotta start sometime :). Patrick as I said is a natural with you. He just adores you and is an awesome dad! He changes your diapers, puts you back to seep and is the best at burping you! I am terrible at burping you, iy takes me a long time sometimes but were getting better. You are by far the hardest baby i have burped though, of course since yourr my baby :)
Lets see what else, you loooove to be held ALL the time, even when sleeping. That was a bad habit I started and now you wont sleep in the crib/cradle. ooops! We are trying to swaddle you up and use a blanket to fool you into thinking you are lying with someone but you are too smart and arent falling for that! You are at least back to somewhat long stretches again which your mom sure appreviates!
You make some of the cutest noises and faces in your sleep. Your dad and I love to watch and listen. We really love when you smile even if you dont realize you are. it is absolutely adorable. You are eating very well. Sometimes you just want a quick snack which means I feed you more often so I try to make you eat more, have to help you grow big and healthy!
Your umbilical cord came off today too! Yay no more freezing alcohol to dry it up and real bath time!
Well it is time to burp!

A baby story....

Welcome Daylynn Renee McGurk!!
Your dad and I feel very blessed to have such a healthy, beautiful baby girl. We waited what seems like forever for you to arrive and life feels more complete now that you are! Looking at my last post, we clearly were not very patient anymore and wanted you to come :) but you were sweet enough not to make us wait until Thursday so thank you little miss for that.
It all started Sunday night. I was starting to feel contractions, well maybe. I wasn't too terribly sure because my Braxton hicks never hurt. I wasn't sure if these were false labor or what so I watched the time just to see and they weren't close enough or consistent so just dealt with them for the night. During the day I didn't have too many and was still figuring you weren't going to come on your terms. Well, little did I know I would be wrong!
After work, Your dad cleaned the jeep and we put it in base just to be extra ready and one last thing to do later. I wanted either Mexican or my usual Applebee's. I was going to go to Applebee's with Vicki and Nicholl but then Vicki had a hair appt so we rescheduled for Tuesday. Your dad didn't want to go any where so we just stayed in. I decided to take a bath to relax and help a little with the back pain these contractions were giving me. I talked to Jess on the phone and even told her that I didn't predict anything happening and we even talked about how most women's water doesn't break on its own.
Haha! Again little did I know what was ahead! I slept on the couch because the contractions were not very comfortable but still didn't expect labor was in store. Around 2 or so they were getting closer and consistent so I just kept riding it out until I knew for sure this was the real deal. Whelp, come 4 ish it was the real deal, my water broke! Ahhh it was one of the weirdest thing, not that anyone probably wants to know. So basically I woke up your dad and we were on our way to the....oops we took the scenic route because we started going to the old hospital. :)
One thing I was never told to do was pre-register at the hospital, not even during our tour. (So note to you mommies to be, register at the hospital too.)  As we arrived, contractions and water still leaking, we had to register, which took forever! Thank heavens I wasn't in serious pain! Finally back in our delivery room I got all set up. I was still not very dilated so it was basically going to be a long day before we were going to deliver. I knew I was going to get an epidural but woowee. I made it 6ish hours without it, mostly because I had to. Your dad and grandma Tanji were amazing in helping me get through the painful time. Once I got the epidural, life was peachy :)  Then before we knew it, it was time to get the ball rolling! Oh my were we emotional. We were about to welcome this little girl into our life and it was the most special moment! After 35 minutes Daylynn was here!!  Absolutely perfect! I have to say that dad of yours is a natural and I love him even more than before! He was/is so in love with you and it just melts my heart.  We got to spend some time with you alone before visitors came, which was nice. We are just so overwhelmed with happiness and love for our daughter!
We had lots of guests and everyone just adores you, which how could they not!  We finally got to go home yesterday. Grandma Tanji is staying a few days so it was nice to catch back up on some sleep, but thankfully you are a sleeper. I pray it continues.
We are just thankful for how smooth the entire pregnancy and delivery went. God truly works in mysterious ways. The only thing missing is Grandma Day but knows she is oohing and ahhing up above!

40 weeks!

When I found out I was pregnant I thought the coming months were going to take forever to go by. Time actually flew by extremely fast. We did have a lot going on from the time I found out until now which definitely helped not make time stand still.  I also thought there was going to be no way I would still be pregnant come 40 weeks, I figured she would be early. Ha not a chance! Not sure what I was thinking. I can't really complain because I haven't been too uncomfortable, but she is really testing my patience, already! I am so ready to meet her, I can't stand the wait anymore! The doctor yesterday said come back Wednesday and we will induce either Thursday or Friday! Woohoo little miss will finally be here in less than a week! (Patrick and I have been thinking that for a few weeks now, but this time it is for real) She is getting extra healthy and probably chunky still cooking and loving life in the womb right now. I am still wondering how my belly is going to get any bigger over the next week. Eek she is scrunched as is!
On another note, Patrick and I are sick! Ahhh who wants to be sick right before or during the arrival of their new baby! I blame Patrick on getting me sick since he came back from Texas and didn't feel too well the day after. Thanks honey! It is getting more difficult to sleep at night being pregnant, let alone not being able to breathe. It is stressing me out just a tad. I don't want to be sick when she comes so I have been popping the vitamin c and some mucinex because that is one thing on my list that I can take, and tried to get lots of rest last night and today.  While resting today I will be enjoying another Wildcat victory and "patiently" awaiting Daylynn!
